Sunday Salon: My Life in Book Titles

Guess how much I read this past week. Maybe half a page. I was that pathetic. With all the BBAW activities coming up this week, I have a feeling I will not be getting much reading done then either. And that's even being prepared ahead of time. So, today is a reading day. I will pry myself away from this computer, put off reading all your wonderful posts until later, and I am going to spend some much needed quality time with my books.

In the meantime, I thought I would take part in a little meme fun. I cannot remember where I first came upon this one, but it seems like everyone is doing it. If you haven't yet tried this one, please do!

Instructions: Using only books you have read this year (2009), cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat a book title.

Describe Yourself: No One You Know (Michelle Richmond)

How do you feel: Precious (Sandra Novack)

Describe where you currently live: A World I Never Made (James LePore)

If you could go anywhere, where would you go: In the Woods (Tana French)

Your favorite form of transport: Walking Through Walls (Philip Smith)

Your best friend is: The Woman in White (Wilkie Collins)

What’s the weather like: Shades of Grey (Clea Simon)

Favorite time of day: Prime Time (Hank Phillippi Ryan)

What is life to you: Sweeping Up Glass (Carolyn Wall)

Your fear: Dead and Gone (Charlaine Harris)

What is the best advice you have to give: Sometimes We're Always Real Same-Same (Mattox Roesch)

Thought for the Day: One More Year (Sana Krasikov)

How I would like to die: Defending Angels (Mary Stanton)

My soul’s present condition: The Weight of a Mustard Seed (Wendell Steavenson)

  1. I like how everyone participating in this "life in books" manages to create a complete and intriguing story (accurate or not). It makes it quite interesting.

  2. I've had my eyeball on that meme, but haven't done it yet. I think it would require more creativity than I feel I have right now. Hope you have a great day of reading!

  3. I love this meme! It's just so interesting seeing what people come up with. Here's hoping for a better reading week ahead for you!

  4. Yeah, I don't imagine this coming week is going to be much good for reading myself. Since I did manage to get a little reading done this week, today finds me dedicating my time to getting my Google Reader under control before the festivities begin in earnest and the chances of catching up are lost completely.

Hope you have a fantastic reading day!

  5. This meme has been so much fun to do and read all over. Your titles really worked perfectly!!! Thanks for sharing.

  6. This meme is so much fun. I haven't tried to tackle it because I figure it's a lot harder to do than it looks.

  7. I started the meme. It IS hard!

Hope you grt lots of reading done today!

  8. My reading has slowed as well, but I hope you get a lot of good reading in today! Have a great Sunday!

  9. This meme is so much fun, and you did a great job with it. Hope everyone that has not done it, picks it up for BBAW. Happy reading! And good luck getting back in the reading groove.

  10. I love this meme. I seen it all over and it provides a pick into the bloggers life. At Frances's suggestion I may use it for BBAW!

I think lots of people are planning ahead for BBAW and not getting much reading done. Have a wonderful week.

  11. I like your answers to this meme! I'm going to have to see if I have any titles that will fit with this because it looks like a lot of fun.

  12. I just did this meme in my book group, yesterday, but it didn't occur to me to post to the blog. I think I will. It's such fun to read the answers people come up with.

I'm reading Same-Same and not sure what I think of it, yet. It's not grabbing me, but I like it. I'm just not getting sucked in.

As to BBAW . . . I cannot see myself coming up with the time, this year. This is my son's senior year and his last time swimming. I don't want to be sitting at the computer when I can be out taking photographs of him and his friends at the pool, so I'm considering just taking the week off, apart from a few necessary posts. I feel awful doing that, but this is it. Next year I'll have an empty nest!!! I can't believe it.

I enjoyed chatting with you on twitter, last night! Sorry I haven't left comments here, lately. I've been so overwhelmed that I'm not getting around to commenting much.

  13. Anonymous Child - I'm not sure how accurate some of my responses really are, but it was fun trying to match up titles with the categories so they made sense.

Sandy - Thanks, Sandy! I'd put off doing the meme for a while now. Figured it was finally time last night.

Meghan - I agree. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's responses. And thanks! I hope so too!

Megan - It'll be a busy week between work and BBAW. At least my posts are mostly ready to go. Thanks! Hubby's decided we have to finish off the second season of Mad Men today too so that will cut into my reading time. It might be a nice break though.

Diane - I had a lot of fun with this meme. :-)

Kathy - It was definitely challenging figuring out fits for a couple.

  14. This has been a slow reading month for me...it seems like I'm either caught up with my blog at the expense of reading or behind on blog but reading like a fiend. I can't quite find the right balance.

  15. Linda - Yes, it wasn't easy. But it sure is fun, isn't it? I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Kristie - Thanks, Kristie! I'm looking forward to settling in soon with my book. I am definitely in need of some uninterrupted reading time.

Frances - That's a great idea! It would be fun for BBAW. And thanks!

Gavin - I hope you do use it for BBAW. I'd love to see your responses. :-)

That was definitely part of what kept me away from my reading this past week. At least this means I can do more visiting and less worrying about posts this week, right? I hope you have a great week too!

Alyce - It is fun--and not so easy with some. I hope you'll play along. I'd like to see what you come up with. :-)

Nancy - One of my book groups was doing it too, but I didn't get a chance to add mine in to the mix. I always seem to be behind everyone else. LOL

I'm sorry you won't be able to participate in BBAW this year, but I do understand. Enjoying your son and his friends is just what you should be doing. :-)

I've prepared all but Friday's posts for next week so that will make things easier. I just have to get around a visit everyone. Maybe it will be a slow work week? Wishful thinking. Haha!

It was nice chatting with you too! I so rarely have conversations on Twitter.

Jill (Softdrink) - Exactly! Last month I was able to devote more time to reading since my computer time was so limited. This month I've been playing catch up and so haven't been reading as much. Finding that balance is a challenge.

  16. Definitely a fun challenge! I did this meme, but then never posted it. Eek.

  17. Hello! I hope you managed to get a good stint of reading in today? I have been on my holidays recently and read three books which was brilliant, so good to have the time to do it. Hope you are well, bye for now!

  18. I've really got to do that meme. I keep seeing it everywhere, and it looks like fun.

I hope your reading day goes well!

  19. Deb - You have to post it now. LOL

Dancin' Fool - I did get some reading in today, thanks. It sounds like you had a lovely holiday.

Memory - It was challenging, but definitely fun. :-)

  20. For the past two months I couldn't talk myself into reading anything (I'm sure the librarians think I've moved or something since I used to come in one or more times a week) because I had so much going on. I'm trying out a new system where I read about 5-10 blog posts (trying to get caught up- way too many on my Google Reader) and then read a chapter of my current book. Surprisingly it works! I just finished Mating Rituals of the North American WASP and while I wasn't very impressed with the beginning I really did like it by the end. Taking the short breaks helped a whole lot.

Love this meme! I think I'm the last person not to do it lol.

Btw, the new design is great!

  21. Jen - Your new system sounds like a good one. I may have to give it a try myself, especially with those slower books.

I'm glad you like the new look. My husband spent most of the weekend working on it (I supervised). It still needs a little work here and there, but overall I'm happy with it. I'm a little worried it might be too wide. May have to fix that if it is.

  22. Oh Wendy, I love your new layout! And the header is great too; I love seeing your furkids! :D

That's a fun meme and I like your answers. Hope you've a great week ahead! :)

  23. Melody - Thank you! I thought I'd show them off a bit. :-) I hope you have a great week too!

  24. oh you got Thread of grace. awesome, I'll be looking forward to your review.

Love the new layout, and LOVE the header Wendy. It looks sooo good.

  25. Wendy, I was LOLing at some of your answers! Good stuff.

The new layout is great and I do have a soft spot for Anya... :D

  26. I did this meme too a few posts back and it's just so fun isn't it?

Hope you were able to get some reading time on Sunday!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Violet - I couldn't resist after Heather mentioned it on your blog. I'm so impressionable. ;-)

I'm glad you like the new look! My husband was in the mood to fiddle with it and so I took him up on his offer.

Alice - I love making people laugh. :-) Anya's so adorable.

    Sylvie - Thanks!

Iliana - It was a lot of fun. :-)

I did manage to get some reading in on Sunday, although not as much as I hoped. Some is better than nothing though.
