Can You Believe It's Friday?

Questions courtesy of Jennifer this week; thanks, Jennifer!

1. Birthdays are a great time to treat yourself right.

2. Autumn is my favorite season because the weather begins to turn cooler and leaves start to change colors. The holidays are still ahead of me and yet they are close enough to touch. The end of the year is in reach. The World Series. There is a certain something in the air that makes me feel cozy and comfy during the fall season.

3. I feel my best when I am well rested, feel confident, and am doing something I enjoy.

4. Barbeque chicken pizza is my favorite food!

5. First impressions are sometimes deceiving.

6. The best piece of advice I ever received was that life shouldn't always be taken so seriously.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to cuddling with my dog and torturing my cat with hugs and nuzzles; tomorrow my plans include spending time with my family and Sunday, I want to feel the sand beneath my toes as I walk along the beach!

Appetizer

What is the weather like today where you live?

Summer is definitely here. Temperatures went from scorching triple digits last week to the mid-9o's this week. For the past couple of mornings, I have been greeted by fog and a gentle mist when I head out for work, which has been a pleasant change. It isn't long before the sun burns right through and claims the day.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how career-minded are you?

I probably fall somewhere around an eight.

Salad

What type of window coverings do you have in your home? Blinds, curtains, shutters, etc.?

There are blinds in some windows and curtains in others.

Main Course

Name something that instantly cheers you up.

The sight of a book in the mailbox or sitting on th back walkway when I get home from work.

Dessert

How many times do you hit the snooze button on a typical morning?

Lately I have been pushing it once on those mornings I have to wake up to my alarm.

  3. I completely agree with you about the beach and your main course. I never know which is better, the instant gratification of buying a book at the store or the lovely surprise of finding one in the mailbox.

  5. I agree about first appearances being deceiving; I'm often misconstrued as being snobbish when I'm only a little shy at first. I met my husband when he closed the door at a party behind which I was reading! :)

  6. The beach on Sunday sounds like a great idea! Gypsy hasn't been there for awhile. Ah, the smell of wet dog in the car on the way home :-)!

BBQ chicken pizza is great - haven't had it in awhile, though. Maybe we should go to CPK this weekend...

    Have a good one, Wendy!

  7. Birthdays are the very best! Autumn is my favorite season too for a lot of the same reasons but mainly because it's not as bright outside (and Mississipi is SO muggy and stale throughout Summer!!!). This weekend (and the following week) I'm staying in Georgia with my parents and my in-laws. We're having a blast so far.

  8. Yum, BBQ Chicken Pizza. It feels a bit like a Monday to me! It's the first day I've been at work in a week and a half.

Odd that the sight of a book should cheer you! Not.

  10. Janet - Thanks! The temperatures are rising again tomorrow so it'll be a nice way to spend the day.

Carol - Oh, yes! It's the best kind of mail outside of a person letter from a friend. :-)

Trisha - Buying a book in a bookstore or receiving one in the mail are both equally thrilling, aren't they?

    Tanabata - It's such a lovely season.

Bellezza - What a great story about how you and your husband met! :-) I have been misjudged by my quietness too.

Florinda - Haha! Maybe you can plan a drive to the ocean one day soon.

CPK is where I had my last BBQ chicken pizza. My husband sometimes makes it for us--yummy!

Jen - I love birthdays. And we'll be in Hawaii for mine this year! Yay!

Muggy summers can be the worst. I am glad to hear you are enjoying your time in Georgia!

Carrie K - Oh, no! To have a Monday on a Friday . . . I hope the day turned out to be a good one.

Trish - My brother is the one who first introduced me to BBQ chicken pizza years ago. It's been my favorite kind of pizza ever since.

Lori - I wonder if I can talk my husband into having one tonight . . .

  14. First impressions can sometimes be deceiving, that I agree with you, Wendy. It's hard not to be judgemental but I believe we must give others the benefit-of-doubt if we don't really like what we see.

"The sight of a book in the mailbox..." cheers me up too. I just received a new box of books from Amazon.com yesterday and seeing it sitting on my office desk totally cheered me up! LOL.

  15. Alice - Yes, I think it's important not to let negative first impressions necessarily guide us because sometimes they aren't accurate.

One of my first thoughts because it's a holiday today is the disappointment that there will be no mail and therefore no books in the mail. ;-)
