More Friday Fun

1. Reading all of the books in my TBR room is high up on my bucket list.
2. My favorite quote is "Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures"; it's from Jessamyn West.
3. My husband not only encouraged but also inspired me to start blogging.
4. Strawberries are best in a smoothie.
5. I scaled down the side of Florinda's blog, waving to her as I went by in the last dream I remember having. It looked like a giant computer tower.
6. The most enjoyable time to go for a walk is in the early evening when the temperature is cooler and the sun has yet to set.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to bed early; tomorrow my plans include finishing Michelle Moran's novel, Nefertiti, if I haven't already by then; and Sunday, I want to be completely over this cold! I actually am suffering from laryngitis at the moment too, which is kind of fun. I like talking like a frog. My husband is getting tired of me testing my voice to see if I am still hoarse. Let's not talk about my embarrassing moment when I had a coughing fit during jury selection yesterday. Hopefully today will go better (when I'm squawking out answers to attorney's questions).

Appetizer

Do you consider yourself to be an optimist or a pessimist?

I am a realist with optimistic leanings.

Soup

What is your favorite color of ink to write with?

I can't say I have a favorite color of ink. In one of my previous positions, a couple of my staff often joked that the reports I returned to them for corrections were dripping in alien blood. I tend to be more traditional these days, sticking with black or blue ink. Whatever is handy and people can read easily.

Salad

How often do you get a manicure or pedicure? Do you do them yourself or go to a salon and pay for them?

It has been years since I got a manicure or a pedicure. I am a minimalist when it comes to my nails these days. I trim them when necessary and do little else with them.

Main Course

Have you ever won anything online? If so, what was it?

Books seem to be about the only thing I ever win in a contest, online or otherwise. If you believe the e-mails I receive sometimes in my spam folder, I have won the U.K. Lottery a number of times. I haven't seen a dime.

Dessert

In which room in your house do you keep your home computer?

You would think that because I now have a laptop, I would take it with me all over the house. Not so much. I haven't gotten used to the fact that my computer is mobile yet. It pretty much stays in my husband's and my home office, otherwise known as the computer room.

  1. I should've said that for #1! It's so true though, we can't die until we've read all the books in the house!
I am a realist with optimistic leanings. I love this! And think it would describe me pretty well too.
Sorry to hear you're still not over your cold, and now with laryngitis too. I lost my voice for a couple of days last month and it was kind of interesting trying to teach English while barely able to croak!
Hope you feel better very soon.

  2. I haven't gotten a manicure really since moving overseas. It's just not as glamorous over here. I've learned to live just find without it. It's time I spend reading instead.

  3. Reading all my TBR's is high upon my busket list too! I never could get used to the fact the my laptop was portable and it stayed on my desk the whole time! Go figure!

  4. Laryngitis AND jury duty at the same time!? I actually don't mind having laryngitis either - I kind of like having that throaty, croaky sound.

I almost said the same thing as you did for #6, but ended up going with the other end of the day instead :-).

I've come to enjoy pedicures, but since I can't keep polish on my fingernails for more than a day without messing it up, I don't bother with manicures.

I'm a realist with more pessimistic leanings, but I'm working on veering the other way more often.

    Have a great weekend, Wendy!

  6. I was just saying today to a friend how interesting Nefertiti looks--I'll be watching for your review! Being a realist with optimistic leanings sounds like a great thing to be! Hope you feel better--and enjoy your weekend.

  7. Jessamyn West! Oh, I love her :-) In fact, if I had had children, I would've named my daughter Jessamyn.

Since I asked that question about strawberries, I had to go buy a quart of freshly picked ones today...and you know what? I have yogurt and ice cubes...I think I'll go make me a smoothie!

Thanks for playing, I hope you're having a great weekend :-)

  8. Ugh, I hate laryngitis! I lost my voice for a couple of days when I had my bad cold a couple of weeks ago and it just drove me crazy - and probably everyone else too, because I was constantly testing to see if my voice was coming back, too. I dunno why it bothers me so much though, I'm not much of a talker on an average day, so you would think I would relish the opportunity to have an *excuse* not to talk. But no. Hmmm...

Anyhow, hope you're totally healthy soon! =)

  9. I wish I could finish reading all the books in my TBR pile too! ;P

I hope you feel better soon. Have a wonderful weekend! :)

  10. Get well soon, Wendy!...

TBR management is high on my to-do list too. I'm acquiring books faster than I can finish them, and I wish I could read even faster although my friends and family are swearing that my reading speed is obscene.

A few months back I received a letter complete with seal for lottery too. I think I took a picture of the letter and was going to post it on my blog but didn't. I think at one point or another, the lotteries are bound to come our way. Hahaa!

  11. I don't think it's possible to get through my tbr pile, it keeps growing. I hope you are feeling better. I have a cold/sinus infection as well. Started feeling bad on Wed and today it really hit me. I have been sleeping on and off all day!

  12. Tanabata - I hope we are so lucky! :-) I imagine it wasn't easy teaching with laryngitis. My voice is back, but I've still got the cold. Thank you for the get well wishes.

Nikki - Very true. And more money for books. :-)

Jaimie - I did get my computer away from the desk in the computer room briefly on Friday. It's a start anyway.

Florinda - Not the best time to be sick, unfortunately (is any time good?). I thought about putting the morning for walks, but I really do prefer evenings.

I was thinking of getting a pedicure this summer, but we'll see. I still haven't gone in for the haircut I needed four weeks ago.

I hope you are enjoying your vacation!

Nymeth - Think of how rich we would be if those spam e-mails were the real thing! Thanks for the get well wishes. I'm trying really hard to get better.

Trish - Thanks! I had a rough night last night and today hasn't been easy. And here I thought I was getting better. It's the cough now. It's decided to make mince meat out of me.

    Nefertiti is definitely worth reading.

Janet - Jessamyn is a beautiful name. :-)

I hope you enjoy your smoothy! I'd ask you to make me one too, but I don't think it would ship well.

Megan - LOL I do that too--constantly test my voice when I have laryngitis. I'm surprised me husband didn't move to a hotel for a few days.

Thanks for the get well wishes!

Melody - It will be a long while before I get to all of mine, that's for sure! Thanks for the well wishes.

Alice - Thanks so much! I hope I start feeling better soon too. At least by tomorrow when I go back to work. Too bad colds don't work that way.

My intake is definitely higher than my outtake when it comes to books.

Lori - If only it would stop growing!

Erin - I was just thinking that! If I keep adding to my TBR collection, I'll never see the end of it.

I hope you feel better soon. Definitely get lots of rest!
