Fun on a Too Hot Friday

1. A smile is a great way to greet a friend.

2. Cribbage is my favorite board or card game.

3. I would love to have more peace in my life and less chaos.

4. When I think of the Summer Solstice, I think of heat, watermelon and barefeet.

5. I just remembered I need to pull the clothes out of the dryer.

6. One of my favorite song lyrics goes like this:
If you're going through hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to visiting my friends in blogland and catching up on some reading; tomorrow my plans include going to see Get Smart at the movie theater; and Sunday, I want to stay cool inside!

Appetizer

If you could live on another continent for 1 year, which one would you choose?

I would love the opportunity to live and travel in Australia for a year. Or maybe Europe. I cannot decide.

Soup

Which browser do you use to surf the Internet?

I use Firefox.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you know about the history of your country?

Sometimes I feel like I know quite a bit about my own country and other times, I seem to know so little at all. So, maybe a 5?

Main Course

Finish this sentence: Love is . . .

Complex.

Dessert

Have you ever been in or near a tornado?

Last month there were a couple of tornadoes that touched down not too far from where I work. I was completely unaware of it until I heard it on the news later that night, however. Tornadoes are very rare in California.

  1. I do hope I get some good reading time this weekend. I also want to get two reviews written and visit bloggers. I've really struggled with having time for this kind of thing this week and it isn't looking at getting too much better! I thought summer was a chance to kick back ;o)
They trained us so well in our formative years by giving us summers off from school. I still haven't gotten over it.

  2. I want to see Get Smart too. Looks really funny. I used to love that show. I hope to get some reading in this weekend also. Enjoy your weekend Wendy.

  3. We're headed to go see Get Smart in a few minutes. I watched the show as a kid, but hubby has never heard of it so it will be interesting!

I'd love to go to Austrailia as well! I hope you have a great weekend--and certainly hope you stay cool!

  6. We're planning to see Get Smart next weekend, after we get home from vacation. Hope you like it!

Hope you have a great weekend, Wendy! Greetings from Flagstaff, AZ - we're off to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. (For the record, I think I will always recommend taking your laptop on vacation!)

  7. Cribbage is one game that I can't seem to get the hang of.

Get Smart is on our summer movie list as well. I hope you enjoy it.

  9. Terri - I hope you are able to get in some good reading time this weekend too. I need to. I didn't get any done last night like I'd hoped.

I do miss having summers off--those were the days. Now it's just like any other time of year only much hotter.

Susan L - I never really watched the TV show, but the movie looks funny. Maybe it will inspire me to check out the old TV show. I hope you have a good weekend too.

Trish - I hope you enjoyed the movie! What did you think? We're heading off to see it in another twenty minutes.

It's supposed to be 109 today. I hope the movie theater is cool!

Nita - I hope you have a great week too!

Nat - My husband taught me to play cribbage during our first year of dating. I struggled with it at first but am pretty decent at playing now. I hope you have a great weekend too.

April - It's a great song. It was a song I couldn't get enough of when I was going through an especially rough time at work about a year ago.

Florinda - I love Flagstaff! I was there for a very short time, but I thought it was so beautiful. Hard to believe you are so close to the Grand Canyon while there . . . Such a different landscape. I am glad you are enjoying your vacation so far!

Trisha - It took me a while to get the hang of cribbage, but I finally took to it. I think my husband was a lot more patient with me than I probably would have been in his shoes. LOL

Jaimie - It's a fun game! I will definitely let you know what I think of Get Smart.

  10. I learned cribbage watching my parents play. My dad was so good at it that all you had to do was lay your hand down and he'd have it counted. Excellent song, btw. Hope you enjoy the movie and beat the heat!

  11. I love watermelons! I don't think I'll ever get tired of eating them! ;)

I'm also hoping to catch up on my reading but I only managed to read two chapters. I hope you've a great weekend, Wendy!

  12. CJ - My husband is like that too. I have never been quick at adding up numbers and that was part of what took me so long to pick up the game, I think.

We did enjoy the movie. It really was hot today! It's still quite warm out.

Melody - Watermelons are a summer staple around here. :-) I eat it year round though. Haha

I hope you are able to spend some more time reading this weekend. Enjoy!

  14. Erin - I've noticed that too--that not many people play cribbage. They don't know what they are missing!
