I was recently tagged by two fellow bloggers, one for a history meme and the other for a book related meme.
Many thanks to VioletLady for tagging me for the following meme:
1. Go to Wikipedia and type in your birthdate, no year.
2. List 3 important events.
1543 - Mary Stuart, at nine months old, is officially crowned "Queen of Scots" in the central Scottish town of Stirling.
1839 - John Herschel takes the first glass plate photograph.
1947 - "First actual case of (a computer) bug being found": a moth lodges in a relay of a Harvard Mark II computer at Harvard University.
3. List 2 births.
1828 (N.S.) - Leo Tolstoy, Russian novelist (d. 1910)
1890 - Colonel Harland Sanders, American fast food entrepreneur (d. 1980)
1903 - Phyllis Whitney, American writer
4. List 1 Death.
1990 - Doc Cramer, American baseball player (b. 1905)
5. List 1 Holiday or Observance.
California - Admission Day (to commemorate the state's admission to the USA). (oh, how upset I was when the the day was no longer a school holiday!)
Bookfool was kind enough to tag me for the Booked by 3 Meme. I imagine this is the sort of meme in which my answers reflect my current mood and the answers would be vary depending on my current state of mind.
Name up to three characters . . .
1. You wish were real so you could meet them:
Sookie Stackhouse from the Southern Vampire series (Charlaine Harris)
Kitty from Kitty and the Midnight Hour & Kitty Goes to Washington (Carrie Vaughn)
Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling)
2. You would like to be:
Hermoine from the Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling)
Kinsey Milhoune (Sue Grafton)
Elena from the Women of the Otherworld series (Kelley Armstrong)
3. Who scare you: (two of the ones I wanted to name, I am unable to do so for fear of spoiling those particular books and so I'll stick to the well known villians who would frighten me if I ever came face to face with them.)
Hannibal Lector from Silence of the Lambs (Thomas Harris)
Voldemort from the Harry Potter series (J.K. Rowling)
Sauron from The Lord of the Rings (J.R.R. Tolkien)
Technically, both memes require that I tag several people, but I much prefer to go the easy route and invite anyone interested in participating to do so.
Great answers! Hannibal would indeed be pretty damn scary to come face to face with.ReplyDelete
I did this meme recently too, you can read my answers here.
When I was in elementary school (6th grade I think) I started one of those "slam" books. It was basically a notebook with a person's name written at the top and you passed it around and people wrote comments on each person's page.ReplyDelete
It soon got out of hand with everyone doing it and the nastiness that goes along with something like that. I got in trouble for starting it.
I love the thing about the first computer bug (I believe I saw a question about that on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire') and that you share a birthday with Col Sanders. I love that man's chicken. yum-oReplyDelete
Thanks for playing, Wendy! Great answers! I'm so afraid of Hannibal that I refuse to even touch the books.ReplyDelete
Great answers! Can you believe that I haven't read Hannibal...yet?! :-OReplyDelete
I had lots of pen pals when I was a teenager. I had forgotten all about slams. LOL.ReplyDelete
I've never heard of slams. Hated those darn chain letters, but I really enjoy memes. It was fun to read over your answers.ReplyDelete

memes are always such fun. I really enjoyed reading yours.ReplyDelete
just noticed I listed three births. I think I got carried away! LOLReplyDelete
Quixotic - Yes, Hannibal is a frightening man. After having seen Anthony Hopkins play him, I have a complete image to go with my imagination and it gives me shivers!
Daphne - Naughty girl! LOL I don't remember any of the slams we passed around being quite so personal that they turned negative like that. That was a very long time ago though, so who knows?
Kookie - I couldn't resist adding that one about the computer bug when I saw it listed! Haha
Nancy - You're welcome! And thanks for tagging me. It was a lot of fun. :-)
Hannibal is a scary character, that's for sure. My favorite portrayal of him will always be Silence of the Lambs and I enjoyed Red Dragon quite a bit. I wasn't a big fan of Hannibal and have yet to read the latest. I'm not sure if I will read that one.
Melody - Thank you! Hannibal is quite a character. He can be so charming and yet . . . He scares the socks off me! (and thanks for pointing out my terrible blunder! I had opened up my comment section to respond and then wandered over to your site. I forget that the comment page changes if I click on someone else's.) :-S
Kristy - I'm not sure why slams came to mind when I was tagged for the two memes. It's interesting what triggers certain memories, isn't it?
Booklogged - Oh, I despise chain letters even to this day. And now they come via e-mail. Grrr! Memes are fun. They can be a great way to get to know someone and they sure are fun to answer!
Nik - Thank you!
No problem at all! :) I too do that sometimes...hehe.ReplyDelete
I like that you gave people the option of being tagged. I'm going to do that.ReplyDelete
I think it's the safest route, Kristy. Then I don't tag someone who really doesn't want to be tagged and anyone who wants can join in! :-) I'm enjoying reading everyone's answers.ReplyDelete
