Just Peeking In

I am the world's worst blogger. I haven't meant to be such a stranger. Between feeling under the weather and working long hours because of a shortage of staff at the office, I have not been feeling up to doing all that much. I am fitting in some reading, amazingly enough. I can take in other people's words and ideas, just not put together my own too well right now.

I am reading Baby Shark by Robert Fate at the moment. It's a hard boiled crime fiction novel about a young woman who goes after the gang who killed her father and left her near dead. The author is going to be in town this coming Saturday (Can you believe it? An author I've actually heard of!), and I thought this would be the perfect time to dive into his first book. Mystery author Bruce Cook (aka Brant Randall) will also be there. I am not familiar with his work. Yet.

I see that Anya has decided to straighten my desk a bit. Or, at least, she's moved some of my papers, a pen, and a bookmark to the floor and has made a bit of a nest out of them. There's never a dull moment with a kitten around.

Speaking of Anya, she was in my dream the other night. I was searching the house for her and discovered her in the closet reading Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. She has excellent taste.

Off to bed I go. Thank you for stopping in!

  1. Working like that truly sucks, doesn't it? Hopefully it'll be over for you, soon.

You realize you could write a series of books about Anya and her closet reading.

"The cat in the closet that read..." It could be pretty funny!

  2. CJ - I should think of you every time I want to complain about my work hours. Yours are so much more difficult--and you do it on a regular basis!

That does sound like a fun idea--writing about Anya's reading experiences in the closet. :-)

  3. Do not worry about us, Wendy! Working long hours sucks and I hope you're feeling much better now.

Don't you think it'd be great if we're able to communicate with the animals so that we know what they're thinking?! ;)

  4. Feel better soon, Wendy! I hope things will become less hectic for you too.

Coincidentally I'm reading Mists of Avalon now. Hehe...

  5. No, I would be the worlds worst blogger:-) I hope you feel better and work gets better as well. I know none of that is any fun and it really cuts into your reading time.

  11. I'm afraid you simply can't have the title of "World's Worst Blogger" as that title is already claimed by me. I have no such acceptable excuses as you do, though I *have* been working a bit more than usual and holiday prep things have been making me even more terrible than usual. Hey, you can only do what you can do, right? I found out pretty quickly that blogging's no fun when it just becomes another chore you're trying to squeeze into your already overburdened day. But I know you'll be back when you've got the time...I mean, who can resist hanging out with all these super cool book blogger people for long? ;-)

  12. You are SO NOT the worst blogger! We all have our moments when life gets in the way. I've been feeling like a lousy blogger lately because I've been in a reading slump and not keeping up with my books! Sorry you've been feeling under the weather lately, but if you're like me all it takes is for my kitty, Jax, to come snuggle with me and I instantly feel better! I'm sure Anya makes you feel like that! Feel better and we'll see you soon!

  16. lol, that has to be one of the coolest dreams ever!

And you're nowhere near being the worst blogger in the world. I'd say you're much closer to the other extreme. I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling under the weather, and I really hope you feel better soon.

  18. Anya does have excellent taste!

A book signing in town with an author you know? Excellent, which is how his book sounds too. Darn. Stop that, Wendy! So many books. So little time.

  19. haha, that's a great dream. My old profile picture was actually my cat sleeping with Lady of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, so maybe cats just like that author. lol

  20. It's okay, Christmas and feeling bad . . . we'll cut you a break. ;)

I loved Baby Shark's High Plains Redemption and can't wait to read Baby Shark. Please tell Mr. Fate "Hello from Bookfool," please, please?

  21. LOL. Love the fact that you dreamt of Anya reading! :P

  22. I hear 'ya. I hope things get better for you soon. I've been almost completely AWOL from blogland for months. I miss the blogging yet seem completely unmotivated to do anything about it. Busy work and tired eyes haven't helped.

I love it that Anya was reading "Mists of Avalon" in your dream!

  23. Thank you all so much for your well wishes and kind thoughts. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support.

Dreams can really be fun, can't they? I'm lucky to have cats that have such good taste in books. :-)

Work will probably be crazy through the end of the year, unfortunately, but things should soon be slowing down too, which will help.

Nancy - Mr. Fate knew just who you were when I mentioned you. :-) He is a very nice man--and has such an open way about him. I couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear. LOL
