Friday Fill-In #3

1. Once upon a time . . . I believed that humans could develop hair balls by sucking on their hair.
2. I hate it when someone on the phone is . . . . screaming and . . . only after you are able to squeeze a word in, can you tell the person that she has the wrong number.
3. One of my favorite scented hand lotions is . . . white tea and ginger.
4. Way down . . . at the end of the highway is a fork in the road where you can either turn left or right, depending on where you want to go.
5. Keys . . . lock doors . . . ; locks . . . . keep people out.
6. Have you seen . . . my black heels?. . .They're . . . covered with my dog's teeth marks.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to . . . dinner out at our favorite Mexican restaurant and then a quiet evening at home. . . , tomorrow my plans include . . . meeting with someone to get a estimate on how much she would charge to paint the exterior of my house . . . and Sunday, I want to . . . spend all day reading, but I will probably need to take care of some chores around the house as well!

What a week it has been! I am grateful to see the weekend come at last. Work is work is work. I cannot say much more than that on that topic. It has been crazy at the office, which is not too unusual this time of year. Reading wise, I have been terribly negligent. I hope to remedy that this weekend.

The lowest point of the week was when my husband's grandmother suffered a heart attack on Tuesday. She is doing very well and will be leaving the hospital tomorrow. Grandma is the most amazing woman I know, and so it was a great relief for us all that she is going to be okay.

On the plus side, I won a copy of The Dollmaker by Amanda Stevens from Melody in her Buy A Friend a Book Week drawing. I also received a couple of ARC's in the mail, one of which is by one of my favorite authors, and I can hardly wait to dive right in and read it. I am bursting at the seams to tell you about it. But not now. Not yet. I really want to tell you. My husband says no. He says timing is everything.

  1. You're the only one that got the white tea and ginger body lotion thing :-)

Glad to hear you husband's grandmother is doing better!

Have a great weekend, and thanks for playing!

  2. Thanks for stopping by! Yes, #5 was a hard one, I love yours also! There's actually white tea and ginger lotion? I had no idea... Have a good weekend!

  3. Happy that your husband's grandmother is doing well now. It's tough when family members grow older...

I'm in the middle of one of my favorite author's books, SHALLOW GRAVE by Lori Armstrong. Lori is a friend and this book is coming out Nov. 1. Her books are set in the Black Hills of South Dakota and are amazing. And I would say that even if she weren't my friend :)

  4. Sounds like you had a busy week. Glad to hear that your Grandma is going to be ok. Congrats on winning the book and have fun this weekend!

  5. Janet - I have a tube of the lotion sitting on my desk at work. :-)

Grandma should be getting out of the hospital today. She'll be staying with my in-laws until she's able to be on her own again. We sure got quite a scare, but are so glad she's doing okay now.

I hope you have a great weekend too!

Bridget - #1 was my mother's doing. When I was a child, I developed the bad habit of sticking a lock of hair in my mouth and my mom decided to tell me that little tale to break me of the habit. It worked.

Chiara - I am glad you stopped by! Yes, White Tea and Ginger is a Bath and Body scent. :-) It's a pleasant scent, I think.

Karen - Thank you. Grandma has had quite a few health problems over the years, but she always seems to be relatively active just the same. And she has the kindest heart. I was really lucky in marrying into the family I did. :-)

I need to read Lori's books. I had planned to read the first one in her series this past summer for the Summer Mystery Reading Challenge, but I didn't get the chance.

Jaimie - Thank you on all counts. :-)

  7. I know L'Occitane has a white tea range but I'd never heard of white tea and ginger together. Sounds nice though. No Bath and Body here unfortunately.
Glad to hear that your husband's grandmother is recovering well from her heart attack.
I hope you have a relaxing Sunday and that next week is a bit less hectic.

  8. My week was difficult too. I swear that week lasted at least three weeks. Hope Grandma recovers very quickly!

  9. CJ - Thank you. I hope never week is better too. :-)

Tanabata - Thanks. She's home and seems to be settling in well.

Dewey - I'm sorry you had a hard week too! It did seem endless, didn't it? Ugh. And thanks for the well wishes for Grandma.

  14. Thank you, Alice. She's doing very well. My husband talked to her on the phone tonight and she had her usual pep and vigor. Congratulations on your win too!

    Nymeth - Thank you!

I'll probably make some sort of announcement in a couple of weeks. :-)

Melody - Thanks. I'll keep a look out in the mail. Thanks for holding the drawing!

  15. Andi - It could have been a better one, that's for sure. And thanks for your good thoughts. I meant to tell you that Grandma really enjoys reading Estella's Revenge. She isn't much of an internet fan, but she does enjoy reading.

  17. White tea and ginger! That sounds wonderful. I'm super-sensitive to strong smells so I avoid fragrances wherever possible, but I do have a white tea-scented body wash that I love.

  18. Wow! And to think I've had a couple rough weeks. Mine are nothing compared to your week... I'm glad to hear that your husband's grandmother is doing better. I'll put her on my prayer list.

Speaking of lists--great fill in the blanks. I love the hairball one!

I'm tagging you with another meme...here's the link to mine...

  19. Melody - I will send you an e-mail when it gets here. :-) And thank you for the award! I'll post it later in the week. You're so kind!

Heather - The white tea and ginger is one of the more mild scents, but depending on just how sensitive you are, it might still be too much for you.

Dynamic Uno - Thank you for including my husband's grandmother on your prayer list.

And thank you for the tag on the meme! I'll have to give that one some thought. I'll probably post it later in the week.

    I think my husband's a wise man too. :-)

As for the award, your blog well deserved it! :)

  21. Loved your fill-ins, especially what the dog did to your shoes. LOL Oddly, my husband's grandmother had a heart attack, this past weekend. She's improving, too - glad your husband's grandmother is doing better. She's the last living grandparent and 94 years old, so we really need to go home for a visit *soon*!!!

Sounds like your husband is as funny as you are.

  22. Melody - It's here, it's here! Yippee! Thank you so much!

Nancy - My dog loves to run around with my shoes . . . What's worse is that I still wear the shoes because I haven't come across another pair of black heels that are comfortable enough that I want to wear. Thankfully no one gets close enough to my shoes to see the teeth marks. I am glad your husband's grandmother is improving also. And I hope you get to make the visit home soon.
