October 2017 TBR List Winner

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Mouse was back at soccer today after missing her last game due to illness. The team didn't fare so well, but they had fun playing. Hopefully we will get our Halloween decorations up this weekend--we're running behind if you look at all our neighbors' houses.

Thank you for helping me decide what book from my TBR collection I should read next:

My TBR List is a meme hosted by the awesome Michelle at Because Reading. It’s a fun way to choose a book from your TBR pile to read. The 1st Saturday of every month, I will list 3 books I am considering reading and take a poll as to which you think I should read. I will read the winner that month, and my review will follow (unfortunately, not likely in the same month, but eventually--that's all I can promise).

I had a great turn out for this month's poll. Thank you to everyone who voted. Forty-one votes total! It started out as a very close race, but the winner ended up taking quite a big lead somewhere in there.

My three choices:

Shadow and Bone (Shadow and Bone #1) by Leigh Bardugo

Ink and Bone (The Great Library #1) by Rachel Caine

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer

And the winner is:

Cinder by Marissa Meyer!

I hope to read all three of these books before the year is out (wishful thinking, maybe, but one can dream), but I will definitely be diving into Cinder this month. My daughter is happy as she was rooting for this one--anything to do with Cinderella, even if a retelling. I look forward to finally starting the Lunar Chronicles! Thank you again to all who voted!

Have you read read this one? Is there a book you can't wait to get to this month?

  1. Hope this one is as good as it sounds! :) I'm just diving into Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. I've never read her before but I'm very hopeful it's a good read, too. Happy reading!

    1. Lark - I think so too! I can't wait to dive in. I hope you like Warbringer. I think I will be getting to that one soon--but the audio version. I haven't read anything by Bardugo either, but I am determined to!

  4. I've heard a lot of good things about Cinder so I'm sure it'd be a good one. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it, Wendy.

  6. Wow, what a landslide! That certainly says a LOT for that book! lol I haven't read it, but can't imagine you won't enjoy it :) I'm happy to hear Mouse is feeling better, and of course it's the playing, not the winning, that matters :D

There's nothing specific I'm reading right now 'cause I keep starting and stopping several, but am too busy to get into any of them. Hopefully soon, though. I have THE CABINET OF CURIOSITIES and SO B. IT sort of vying for my attention at the moment, along with writing craft books and my own writing, plus THE TOXIN SOLUTION 'cause it's health stuff I'm having to deal with directly. Anyway, I'm pretty much bouncing all over the place! I'm looking forward to hearing whatever you say about CINDER, whenever it is that you do :)

    1. Donna Marie - Yes, it does! I expected it to be a little closer, given how popular all three books are.

I enjoyed The Cabinet of Curiosities. I hope you did too! I am sorry you are having to deal with health issues. I know all too well how that goes, unfortunately. I hope you find some answers.

    2. Btw, also, speaking of "Cabinet," I've had the pleasure of speaking to Claire Legrand a couple of times and she is SUCH a lovely, fun person! If you enjoyed that book, you might want to know *if you don't already) that the story in it--“Quicksilver and the Stranger”--became a recently released novel ( http://www.claire-legrand.com/home/books/foxheart/ ) because she and her editor loved the characters so much :)
