2018 Witches and Witchcraft Reading Challenge

I have wanted to participate in Melissa's Witches and Witchcraft Reading Challenge for awhile now, but never have managed it. I want this year to be all about reading what I want to read when I want to read it, and reading about magic and witches is a big draw for me. This is a year long challenge that ends December 31, 2018.

2018 Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge

Book Criteria:
Any full length book that includes a witch as a main character or includes major witchcraft elements counts. They may be fiction or non-fiction. However, they should not be reference books which are not read cover to cover-I will leave this to your discretion.
There are several levels being offered to participants:
  • Initiate: Read 1 – 5 Witchy Books
  • Maiden: Read 6 – 10 Witchy Books
  • Mother: Read 11 – 15 Witchy Books
  • Crone: Read 16 – 20 Witchy Books
I am going to aim for the Initiate Level with the hope that I will be able to meet a higher level. This way I can be sure to succeed one way or the other! [It's not cheating. It is just being realistic.]

Some of my witchy options straight from my TBR shelves:
  • The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane By Katherine Howe
  • The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrision
  • It Takes a Witch by Heather Blake
  • Witch Way to Murder by Shirley Damsgaard
  • A Modern Witch by Debora Geary
  • Rules For Magic by Alice Hoffman
  • The Witch's Trinity by Erika Mailman
  • Akata Witch by NnediOkorafor
  • Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt
  • The Witch of Painted Sorrows by M. J. Rose
  • The Witches of Eastwick by John Updike
  • The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco
  • The Witch’s Market by Mingmei Yip
  • The Heretic’s Daughter by Kathleen Kent
  • The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
  • The Queen of Tearling by Erika Johansen
  • Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
  • Chocolat by Joanne Harris
  • The Magicians by Lev Grossman
  • Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
  • The King Slayer by Virginia Boecker
  • Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

There's a wide variety of different types of books on this list to choose from. This is the perfect excuse to finally get to some of them!

Have you read any of these? What witchy or witchcraft books would you recommend?

Thank you to Melissa of Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf for hosting this challenge!
