It is Kay's Turn to Ask Me a Question!

I like to talk about myself. All bloggers do to some extent. Why else blog? Even if you are writing about books or politics, mathematics or French cuisine you end up revealing quite a bit about yourself. I thought it would be fun to reach out to you and find out what you wanted to know about me for a change. My Random Acts of Reading was kind enough to take me up on my offer. Here's what she wanted to know:

1. What is your favorite kind of ice cream?

Such a tough question! That's like asking me what my favorite color is. It's ever changing. When I lived at the old house, I was a frequent visitor to the nearby Dairy Queen where I experimented with all the different kinds of Blizzards. My ultimate favorite was the Brownie Batter Blizzard but I was also partial to the Banana Cream Pie. I am sad to say I don't live close to a Dairy Queen anymore. No more Brownie Earthquakes or Peanut Buster Parfaits.

There was a time when I only ate frozen yogurt, and I probably should get back into that habit. There are two shops not too far from my new house after all. But Cold Stone's been calling to me a little too often . . . I'm actually not a big Cold Stone fan but I do like their ice cream on occasion. Mint Mint Chocolate Chip is a current favorite, although I really do like the Peanut Butter Cup Perfection. Or the Birthday Cake Remix (with an addition of white cake) . . .

My favorite ice cream, however, is Baskin Robbins. I love their Peanut Butter & Chocolate ice cream. There's just something about peanut butter and chocolate together that I find irresistible. There mint chocolate chip is to die for as well. But then there's Rocky Road ice cream . . . So good!

Kay's favorite is Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia and I can't fault her there. Ben & Jerry's is a real treat in our house because it isn't easy to come by. There are many flavors I would love to try but can't get my hands on, I'm sad to say. Of those I have enjoyed, I think my favorite of theirs would have to be Everything but the Kitchen Sink.

I love ice cream. Way more than is healthy for me, I confess.

2. What's you favorite ride at Disneyland?

My husband and I are big fans of Disneyland. We used to have season passes and will likely be indulging in them again once Mouse is old enough. It isn't just the rides and idea of Disney that we love, it's the park itself--and the park's history.

I don't especially like roller coasters but I do love the ones at Disneyland, Space Mountain in particular. I love racing through the dark, not sure what's around the next bend. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the park since the ride was last remodeled, but I still consider the ride my favorite. Small World is another favorite--the detail that went into the costumes of the dolls is amazing. I see something new every time. And it's such a relaxing ride! It's a nice break for those sore feet! Perhaps though my most favorite ride of all is a toss up between the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the Haunted House. I wasn't too jazzed about the "updates" made to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride several years ago--the attempt to make the ride more politically correct. I don't think the attempt worked, but who am I to say? It's still a fun ride. And I just love the eerie feeling of the Haunted House!

I have never been to Disney World. Maybe one day.

Such fun questions! Thank you, Kay!

What about all of you? What is your favorite ice cream? Have you been to Disneyland or Disney World? Do you have a favorite ride?

  1. Wendy, you answered my questions!! LOL

I know they weren't earth shattering, but seem appropriate for the middle of a hot, hot, hot summer.

Thanks for including me in your question-a-thon. My daughter and I are going to be taking a short trip to Disneyworld in early October, just the two of us. Looking forward to riding all my favorites once again. It's been a long time. I'm very partial to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates ride as well.

  2. I just found the best ice-cream from Ben and Jerry's. It's called Late Night Snack and it's vanilla bean ice cream with a carmel swil with little peices of fudge covered potato chips inside. Sounds weird, doesn't it? I agree, but when you taste that sweet and salty mix, oh my. It was heaven and I almost ate the whole thing in one sitting. As it was, I was picking out the potato chip peices and hoovering them up! I loved these questions, and can't wait to see what other ones come up!

Bt the way, if you ever visit Orlando again for Disney, you will have to have dinner with Sandy and I!

  3. I am not a huge ice cream fan, but if I go into an ice cream I'm getting a hot fudge sundae about 99% of the time.
I haven't been to Disneyworld since I was a kid, but look forward to going with Gage!

  4. I don't care for ice cream too much. Lately, I've been loving Pinkberry. Do you have one near you? I love their Watermelon, with fresh watermelon and watermelon puree on top!

  6. These are fun questions! I could give up any dessert EXCEPT for ice cream! It is my weakness. If I lived anywhere near Dairy Queen I would be in deep trouble!

  7. I always love homemade vanilla ice cream. Boughten, I go for cookie dough. Sundaes, I like caramel or strawberry.

I live in the Midwest, never been to either Disneys.

  8. This was a fun post to read Wendy!!! I'm with Kay...Cherry Garcia is my fave and when I'm depressed I've been known to eat that little container all myself. I'm glad that I don't live near a DQ...that would be hazardous to my health!!!

I love Disney World. I've been to the one in Florida and Japan. I think I just love the escapism of it all and having fun!!

  9. Kay - I loved your questions! They were fun to answer. :-) Thank you so much. You were actually the only one who asked me questions.

Of course, you put me in the mood for ice cream. LOL

I hope you and your daughter have a great time at DisneyWorld. I really would like to go there one day. I think it'd be fun. I hear it is so much bigger than Disneyland.

Heather - Haha! Yeah, Late Night Snack does sound weird upon description, but I am glad you like it. I will have to give it a try if ever I see it in the store.

I will definitely try and meet up with you and Sandy if I ever make it to Florida!

Stacy - Yum! I love a good hot fudge sundae. I like real hot fudge though. So often places use the cheap stuff and it's not quite the same . . .

I'm looking forward to exploring so many places with Mouse. I can't wait for her to experience Disneyland for the first time. I am sure Gage will love DisneyWorld when you go. :-)

Ti - It should be a crime not to love ice cream! Seriously though, you're probably better off for it. :-) I am not familiar with Pinkberry. I looked it up to see if there were any stores near me and it looks like there are two in nearby cities. Maybe I'll make it to one of them someday soon. My nearest frozen yogurt shop is Golden Spoon. It's been a little while since I was last in there.

Melody - You can't go wrong with vanilla and strawberry. :-)

Kathleen - I feel the same way! I have to have my ice cream. :-) I really do miss being closer to a Dairy Queen. There is one not too far from my office but since my breaks and lunch aren't my own and needing to pick up the baby after work, swinging by to pick something up hasn't been possible. When Mouse is older, maybe. :-)

Carla - I haven't had homemade ice cream in years--decades, even. My grandfather used to make lemon ice cream and it was always so good! For the longest time I thought that was the only flavor he knew how to make! Cookie dough is always good. :-)

Staci - I've done that too--eaten an entire container by myself. LOL Terrible, terrible. So good though!

I agree, the Disney parks are great escapism. It's like an entirely different world inside those gates. If only they weren't always so crowded--or expensive!

  10. What fun questions! My current ice cream favorite, and it has been for 4 years, is cherry almond. oh yuuuummmm. It's only made by a locally owned place that is about 20 min from our house. so husband doesn't usually want to drive there since there are closer places. So..I only get it once or twice a year.

  11. Baskin Robbins is awesome! My favorite right now, which I'm craving at this moment, is coconut almond chip from a local vendor. Yum! :-)

  12. Kris - Cherry almond sounds good! That's too bad the ice cream parlor is so far. It makes it extra special though to get it those one or two times a year, I imagine. Make your husband take you this weekend!

Marie - I love Baskin Robbins! Coconut almond chip sounds delicious. I love coconut and almonds. I'm starting to crave ice cream again! Haha
