I believe that Carter is a gifted writer and you hit the nail on the head when you described it as an intellectual thriller. I really liked it as well. He is obviously a very intelligent writer, weaving a complex mystery. I tend to prefer my thriller novels to move a little more quickly than either of these did, but I still enjoyed New England White.<BR/><BR/>Framed - I actually am glad I didn't read my journal entry for Emperor of Ocean Park before I decided I wanted to read New England White. I might have skipped this one. I am glad I read it though. Still, I know what you mean. I wasn't thrilled with Carter's previous novel, but she insisted that this one is much better.
