Great pic!
It must be my imagination, but I thought it looks a little spooky from afar. Must be those dark windows. :P
Oh my! What I would give to have the story behind this place. It IS spooky, but I can imagine it in its grander days. It almost looks like it belongs in the English countryside ala Austen.
I had the English country estate in mind as well. Do think it would be a bit spooky after dark!
That looks so desolate.
What a great picture! I love visiting places like that.

Oh wow, that's a wonderful picture. My mom and I are planning a trip back east next fall...this might have to be a stop!
I could use that shot on one of my reviews! Looks like something straight out of historical fiction.
It's been awhile since I've been to a fort. I've got a couple of awesome pictures while I was there. One of my mom and me in the prison cell area and another of my little brother and me standing on either side of a cannon.
Great photo...loving the perspective of it!!
My dad was a history teacher for almost 40 years. I can't tell you how many of these forts I've been to (maybe even this one--I honestly can't remember!). I have never tired of them.
Great photo. Interesting with the wheel just visible in the corner - it sort of balances it out.
I love the angle from where this photo is taken!
Melody - Thanks, Melody!
Sandy - I love visiting old buildings like this. Life was so different back then.
Jenclair - I bet it would be spooky after dark too. Imagine what the walls would say if they could talk.
Kathy - I imagine it was far from it back in its day.
CJ - I do too. I always try to imagine what it must have been like all those years ago when it was active and full of people.
Jill - I hope you will get the chance to stop there. It's a beautiful spot.
Jen - I does, doesn't it? It's been a few years since I was last at a fort too. This photo was taken in 2002, I believe, which was our last visit to one.
Staci - Thanks, Staci!
Lisa - I've been to a number of forts too--and old missions. Like you, I never tire of them. There's so much history in them.
Myckyee & Alice - There's an even better photo of the fort on the official website, but I like the angle of this one (my husband or I took the photo--I can't remember), with the wheel off to the side like that.
