Gift Giving Fun & Friday Fill-In # 8: Giving Thanks

Have you ever taken part in a Secret Santa or Secret Pal Gift Exchange? Litblogger Nymeth is organizing a Blogger Christmas Exchange this holiday season. Be sure and stop by her blog for details!

1. The things I give thanks for this Thanksgiving are my family (animals included), my job, and the cool evening breeze.
2. My Thanksgiving traditions include taking in a movie and spending the day at home with my husband and the animals.
3. The best part about Thanksgiving is having an extra day off from work.
4. My favorite Thanksgiving food is hot yams with melted marshmallows on top (which, unfortunately, I haven't had in years).
5. I cannot think of a single moment that was the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me on Thanksgiving.
6. After the meal, I check my e-mail (we dine out for Thanksgiving dinner, and so there's no clean up to worry about--just a big tip).
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a leisurely walk under the stars, tomorrow my plans include a visit to the movie theater, lunch out and perhaps a stop at the bookstore, and Sunday, I want to forget that the day after is Monday when I have to return to work!

  1. ooh, I forgot about the yams! When I was growing up we put pecans and brown sugar in along with the marshmallows.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. I make yams with marshmallows every year! I love them! We are thinking about going to the movies this year also since we will be celebrating at home. The kids want to see Beowulf. Have you decided what to see yet?

  5. I'll try the yam with melted marshmellows on top, that sounds sooooooo yummy!

I'm in for a quiet Thanksgiving as well. :)

  7. Happy early Thanksgiving. Thank you everyone for the good wishes.

Faith - I think we may have had brown sugar added to ours too, but not pecans. That does sound yummy though!

    Janet - I miss having them. :-(

Serena - It's really good--a sweet treat mixed with all the other food.

Jaimie - Can I spend Thanksgiving with you? We haven't decided yet what we want to see, movie wise. I am kind of curious about Enchanted. Those types of movies are hit and miss with me.

    Matt - It's very good. :-)

Nymeth - I hope lots of people will join in.

Thanks for visiting my fill in.

  9. That's ALWAYS the trick with Sunday's, isn't it....trying to "forget" or ignore the fact that Monday is coming! LOL!

  10. Going to a movie is what we used to do back in the day. Wish I still could. Oh well.

Yams, yum. But really, it was the marshmallow topping.

I'm glad you enjoyed Alice Sebold's new book! I'm not even going to try.

  11. What movie are you gonna watch? :)

  12. Tommie - I think Enchanted comes out that weekend. And it's a Disney movie. We can go see that. :-)

    Julie - I wish I could drag Sundays out a little longer . ..

Carrie K - Hubby and I don't do much else when we go out. It's eat or a movie. Or both. LOL We lead such an exciting life. :-)

I don't blame you for not wanting to read Sebold's new book. It's not for everyone.

MeL - I haven't decided yet. All the ones I want to see are playing in the town over and not in my town. :-S

  14. Knittymuggins - I tried really hard to think of something embarrassing that must have happened, but nothing came to mind. Thank you for visiting!

  15. Your Thanksgiving sounds very relaxing. I hope you have a good one!

I'm finally catching up on reading your blog. I've had very little time online and it's taking me forever but I hate to miss what's been going on. :P

Anyway, your review of The Almost Moon has me intrigued. I don't mind reading dark, uncomfortable stories sometimes especially if they're well written and thought-provoking.

I've also added An Accidental American to my lengthy wishlist. It sounds really good.

It's good to have you back!
